Patrons of the Prado’s Fundraiser Gala

On a balmy mid-June Saturday evening, 350 enthusiastic partygoers congregated at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park for a very special gala. Most were in black-tie attire, but several of the most deeply involved (including co-chairs Lynne Doyle, Nancie Geller, and Christina Jordan) wore vibrant colors and patterns matching the stunning thematic scenery, which evoked the exotic Kingdom of Morocco on Africa’s northwest coast. The event — the Patrons of the Prado’s 2019 fundraiser, titled “Masterpiece in Morocco” — began with “Cocktails in Marrakesh,” an extended reception featuring lavish hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction “marketplace,” and entertainment including belly dancers and a friendly snake or two.
