The Prado is Balboa Park’s central promenade, a crown jewel famous for its historical artisan-crafted facades, lush gardens, sparkling pools and flowing fountains. The area is alive with highly prized attractions, exhibitions and performances. The Prado is provides a world-class cultural and educational experience for the millions of locals and visitors from around the world who frequent Balboa Park each year.
Since 1997, Patrons of the Prado has funded over $3.6 million and provided tens of thousands of all-volunteer hours to benefit the distinguished array of arts, science and cultural organizations that occupy the Prado in Balboa Park.

through our bucks4buses program in 2018
In 2018 thanks to your support, over 57,000 San Diego County School students, grades K-12, had access to transportation and educational programs provided by our world-class beneficiaries. Approximately 65% were Title 1 schools. For many, this was their first time experiencing Balboa Park and represents a 63% increase in student participation over 2017.

PATRONS GRANTS OVER $200,000 TO balboa park arts and culture organizations at 2018 directors reception
Patrons of the Prado recently distributed over $200,000 in unrestricted grant funds to five major Balboa Park beneficiaries for 2018 which include the Mingei International Museum, San Diego Museum of Man, Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego Natural History Museum, and San Diego History Center. The funds were raised at the July 7 Patrons of the Prado annual MASTERPIECE Gala, Masquerade in the Park. On Nov. 15, the funds were given out at the Patrons annual Directors’ Reception held at The Nat.
